Manufacturer’s
Declaration of Conformity (MDoC)
This is
the most important document in CE Marking. The CE Mark cannot be affixed on the
product, without first the manufacturer drawing up the MDoC. In many
products it is the sole basis for CE Marking. Examples are the Low Voltage
Equipment Directive (LVD), Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) and
machinery. In these and
many other cases there is no certificate is required from any third party. However,
the CE Marking regulations place an onerous responsibility on the
manufacturers before drawing up the MDoC. Before executing the declaration,
the manufacturer has to apply the correct directives and European harmonized
standards, get the product inspected and tested, compile the Technical
Construction File (TCF), etc. Beware! Any attempt to abuse the freedom
offered by the CE Marking regulations on a self responsibility may result in
total product recall or blacklisting of the manufacturer throughout the
European countries/ markets.
