Ball-Pressure Test - Resistance to heat of
non-metallic parts
Ball-pressure test is carried out to check the resistance to
heat of non-metallic parts/ insulating parts, at elevated temperatures. The European, Harmonized Standard, EN 60695-10-2 standard prescribes the
requirements and methodology of this test. The ball-pressure apparatus is placed on part
under test, inside the oven. The
temperature is 750C for external parts and 1250C for
parts holding current carrying connections.
The duration of the test is 60 minutes inside
the oven at the specified temperature. The ball-pressure test is
considered as passed if the diameter of the impression formed on the part is
less than 2mm. |
